1999

1999 according to MU image

According to MU these are the series that started in 1999 that were completely translated at the time the groupread started - 2025 oct 22 - with a couple of other series lacking complete translations and the rest not having any period.
Of course looking through the TOC of the magazine proper paints a pretty different picture. The first photo is from the first issue and the second photo is from issue 1999/12.

∀ Gundam

I haven't watched the actual anime so I can't say how it compares but this felt like a fairly competent, if summarized, adaptation, the original of course looks much better and it's one of the Gundam series I'm most curious about. The art in this screamed eromanga author so I was surprised that wasn't actually the case.

Looking into it I came across Kenji Tsuruta's and Hagio Moto's contributions in the franchise, especially the latter seems pretty surprising, I wonder how that came to be.

Kishin

It's not in the Nagai raw archive unfortunately but there's some chinese scans, flipping through them all I can say is that it looks cool and plenty fun but to be fair, what Go Nagai manga doesn't?

Big fan of these Zaku ass mecha and all the cute naked girls, that's why he gets the big bucks.
It's interesting that despite Magazine Z being so heavily associated with Go Nagai his series wasn't actually the opener in the first issue, I wonder what sorts of editorial disputes they had when it came to choosing things like these in the magazine's planning stages.

Amon: The Darkside of the Devilman

I know this has its shooters but I can't say I care much for it personally, I'm more curious about the Devilman PSX game that came out the year after if anything. The bonus Go nagai illustrations in every volume were really good, this justifies its existence even if only through those.

King of Bandit JING

The sequel series, not the original.
