Magazine Z

Magazine Z was a monthly seinen manga magazine launched on 1999 JUN 26 under the banner of a "media mix magazine". True to its name it featured many tie in manga to anime, tokusatsu and video games. It also organized the Go Nagai Newcomer Award, the first award to bear Go Nagai's name. It ceased publication on 2006 JAN 26, with issue 120.

I'm currently reading through everything that's translated in English from this magazine in a groupread on a server I'm in (pretty much only one other active participant but hey, it's the thought that counts) and I'll be writing here some things I look up while doing so. The reasons I was interested in this magazine are mostly related to the blurb on wikipedia by Kenichi Muraeda, of Red and Kamen Rider SPIRITS fame, it's a remark about how compared to other magazines of the time with strict constraints and little creative freedom, Magazine Z was a publication with a broad scope that welcomed everything from adaptations of classic works to original creations. A quick look through its catalog can if nothing else attest to its eclectic offer. There were also a number of titles I haven't read I was explicitly curious about like Pugyuru and Kouya ni Kemono Doukokusu Since the groupread is going in chronological order I will also separate this section based on years.
